DRACO hosts Adaptive Adventures Dragon Boat Simulator Practice

On March 14 and March 28, 2022 we hosted dragon boat pool simulator practices for Adaptive Adventures, an adaptive sports provider that has several athletes training for an upcoming Paralympic competition. How awesome to be able to make our simulator accessible to this great group!

Local BCS Paddler featured in 9News Profile

Check out this news feature profiling our own Rebecca Novak

Several months ago we were approached by a 9News correspondent, inquiring about the possibility of doing a profile featuring one of our BCS paddlers. The project was approved, and work has been ongoing throughout the summer.  The program was initially scheduled to be broadcast the evening of December 30, but was pre-empted at the last minute due to more critical coverage of the Marshall Fire, and finally aired on January 7, 2022.

DRACO to Participate in BCS Pink Hat Tea Event

Pink Phantoms to attend Pink Hat Tea

As part of its effort to promote its Breast Cancer Survivor (BCS) Dragon Boat Program, members and supporters of DRACO’s Pink Phantoms crew will be participating in this year’s BCS Pink Hat Tea on April 7, an event hosted by the Lutheran Medical Center for the benefit of newly diagnosed and long-term breast cancer survivors.  The theme of this year’s event, to be held at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, is “Brewing Gratitude”, and will focus on finding gratitude in your life and how it fits into healthy survivorship.

We plan to have a dragon boat on display, along with video and/or other promotional materials.  Please join us for this great event, and help support both our program and the local BCS community!

Kamikaze Launches 4000+ in Punkin Chunkin Colorado 2K17

Kamikaze Launches 4000+ in Punkin Chunkin Colorado 2K17!

Click on Photo for Video of Launch!

DRACO was well-represented at this year’s Punkin Chunkin Colorado, a two-day, nationally-sanctioned pumpkin launching competition held in Aurora, Colorado on October 7-8, 2017.  This is an annual event for members of the Phantom Dragons / Pink Phantoms crews, providing an opportunity to gain publicity for DRACO and our breast cancer survivor (BCS) program.

We had a great competition this year. Although we didn’t have quite the distance capability of the two largest air cannons that competed (each of which set a new world record for launch distance, the last an amazing 4,970 feet), we did set a personal record for our launcher of 4,084 feet, earning us a seat in the prestigious 4,000+ Club!

Photos taken at the event can be seen at the following link.  Also included are a number of photos showing modifications to our compressed air cannon, Kamikaze (Divine Wind) to get it ready for this year’s launch.
